Bamboo HR Main Features

But you certainly get what you pay for with one of the most comprehensive cloud-based HR systems on the market, Bamboo HR has a heap of HR features tailored for small businesses.

Its user interface is clear and easy to use, with its analytics and reports providing you clear and well-presented data on all your people. It has its own built-in applicant tracking software so you can automate every part of the hiring process from sifting through applications to building and creating offer letters, helping you efficiently hire the best people.

Its employee time tracking software is also seriously intuitive and makes it super easy and quick for you to enter your time.

And the software integrates easily with TRAXPayroll, enabling you to accurately calculate your employee’s pay, automate your tax filings and employee deductions, and also empower your employees to take a more active role in tracking their compensation by allowing people to access their payroll on the go.

1.7 million people use Bamboo HR daily with 87% of them working at small businesses. The software is the ultimate package for any small business owner wanting everything in one place that you can see and view easily to manage your HR systems accurately.

Bamboo HR Pricing

Bamboo HR’s pricing is a little difficult to understand, to get a quote for a price you have to sign up and provide your contact details through an online form. Ultimately people just want their prices to be laid out clearly, particularly smaller businesses who are looking to save cash and know what they are spending.

Although we expect that this is so the service can help tailor a plan and quote for your business needs, one good way to save money. Plus the service also provides you with a free trial which you can sign up for on their website, again though it’s unclear what’s included or how long the trial lasts.

Bamboo HR Trustpilot Reviews

Despite being a very comprehensive software for HR management, Bamboo HR is not very well rated on Trustpilot. It scores only 2.9 stars and 50% of its reviews are bad, with a lot of users saying the software is okay to use but some users said it “lacks in features” and “requests for support were pretty poorly handled.”

  • Can be slow

BullHorn Main Features

Although Bullhorn can’t really be considered a comprehensive software for HR management, it is one of the best applicant tracking apps on the market simply for its artificial intelligence and seamless user interface, great for larger organisations who already have the HR aspect covered.

We really liked Bullhorn’s “Slide Out” features that built for the needs of HR teams looking to manage multiple projects at once. It allows you to customise your dashboard so that you can see which windows, widgets and metrics you want to see on your page and view your candidate’s information and their applied jobs without having to move to a new page.

Simply flick over to the new window that will appear in your dashboard, from that window you can communicate via the application’s integration with Outlook, carry out onboarding tasks and manage your candidate’s job lists. Plus Bullhorn’s support team are also very knowledgeable, fast and are available 24-hours a day.

BullHorn Pricing

Similarly to Bamboo HR, Bullhorn does not display its pricing on its website, you’ll have to get a quote that will be tailored to your business. However, we can see that its pricing tiers are fairly scalable as Bullhorn sets out 4 pricing tiers on its site that can give you a rough idea of what you can expect to pay for at each level.

Its base package, ‘Team’ gives you access to candidate management and sourcing features, job management and publishing features, and email integration and mass mail features. Its corporate and enterprise features up the game, giving you LinkedIn integration, unlimited data storage, and NPS survey tools, and at the enterprise package, advanced reporting dashboards, lead and opportunity tracking, activity goals, and sales quotas.

BullHorn Online Reviews

Bullhorn is rated well online with many customers reporting its customer support to be excellent and extremely knowledgeable. However many did also rate the software poorly, that it can sometimes be slow to load up and that it lacks mobile usability.

Workable

workable hr software
Workable

Pros

  • Access 200+ job boards
  • Applicant tracking
  • Great reviews

Cons

  • Poor integration with HR platforms

Workable Main Features

One of the best features about Workable is that it provides you with access to over 200 job boards, so you can list and place your job in direct view of a wide variety of candidates. Again it is a dedicated applicant tracking system so we only recommend using the service for talent acquisition.

As far as talent acquisition services go this is a very comprehensive service that will also provide you with over 700 job description templates and 40 app integrations that can help you perform background checks and assessments. Plus one of the coolest features is its social sharing and hashtagging feature that allows you to allow candidates to add a hashtag to any candidate, which will allow team members to go into the system and tailor their searches to find #lawyers or #marketingexecutives.

Workable Pricing

Workable’s pricing is one of the best for small businesses looking for applicant tracking software. Instead of pricing by user, as Bullhorn does, Workable prices its plans by job. On its base tier, you’ll pay $99 per job you list online.

That will give you access to its recruiting features as and when you need them, a great option for small businesses who won’t be posting jobs regularly but can become quite expensive if you’re posting multiple jobs each month. Workable also have a hiring at scale plan which contains an advanced suite of talent acquisition features, including 400 million candidate profiles and AI sourcing, which you’ll need to enquire with Workable to get a quote for.

Workable Online Reviews

Rated 4/5 stars on Trustpilot, Workable is described as “efficient”, “cost-effective” software for HR management, and “makes interviews a breeze” by many plaudits online.

People HR

people software for hr management
People HR

Pros

  • Well-priced for small businesses
  • Applicant tracking
  • Free switching service
  • Payroll reporting

Cons

  • Slightly dated interface

PeopleHR Main Features

People HR is a more rounded software for HR management that provides smaller businesses with well-priced HR tools, and applicant tracking software, that are well priced and easy to use. One of the great features of People is that it offers a free switching service that will transition all your old HR data from your previous HR system to your new system for free.

Plus you’ll also get a dedicated account manager to oversee this process so that you don’t lose any vital information. Although its user interface is seriously dated, People’s HR essentials provide everything you’d expect from an HR service provider, including employee management, payroll reporting and annual leave calculators.

It’s a great service for smaller businesses looking to have all their HR and applicant tracking tools in one place.

PeopleHR Pricing

People HR offer a very cheap service with plans starting from £3 per employee per month, ranging to £6 per employee per month. With four pricing plan tiers, you will be able to easily scale your businesses’ features as you grow.

Their base plan includes essential software for HR management and reporting features, with their next plan up at £4, giving you access to time tracking features, and third-party app integrations. As your business starts to grow and gain more employees you may want to start measuring their performance, and you can step up to the £5 plan which gives you access to recruitment and applicant tracking features as well as performance management features.

On each plan though you’ll gain access to People’s data migration services and their support services too.

PeopleHR Trustpilot Reviews

A couple of users on Trustpilot have given great kudos to People HR claiming it has helped hugely during the COVID-19 pandemic, with excellent support staff and great reporting features.

Many though have also experienced a few issues with People’s customer service who have on a couple of occasions not been able to help deal with the problem at hand.

Gusto

gusto software for hr management
Gusto HR

Pros

  • Easy set-up
  • Payroll & tax
  • Integrates with accounting software
  • Well-priced

Cons

  • Average customer service reviews

Gusto Main Features

We liked how easy it was to set up Gusto. The software comes with a setup wizard that is seriously intuitive and lets you set up and upload all of your employee’s data in just a few clicks.

Plus its payroll features are super intelligent and are automated, filing your payroll, tax filings for you automatically as you work. Payroll and tax can be particularly complicated things to complete, so it helps massively that Gusto can automate and calculate these processes for you if you are a small start-up.

Plus Gusto supports integration with some of the top accounting software apps including FreshBooks, QuickBooks, and Xero, helping you keep all your accounts in one place.

Gusto Pricing

Gusto comes with 4 plans starting with the basic plan at $6 per month per person with a sign-up fee of $19 which gives you access to full-service payroll features.

But if you’re looking for something a little more comprehensive you can upgrade to their core plan which is also $6 per month per person, with a $38 sign up fee which gives you access to applicant tracking features, time recording integrations, and a variety of benefits administration tools

Although both these plans do the basics well at a great price, you might want to take a look at the complete plan if you’re also looking to add on greater time management tools and an employee directory, for just $12 per month with a $39 sign-on fee.

The final plan is only worth purchasing if you’re running a larger organisation and require access to Gusto’s certified HR professionals and HR resource centre. It will set you back $149 on the outset and $12 per user per month thereafter.

Gusto Trustpilot Reviews

Gusto seems to let itself down in its customer service department, with many online reviews rating gusto as only average simply because its customer service is slow to respond and hard to contact.

Deputy

deputy software for hr management
Deeputy HR

Pros

  • Shift planner
  • Time tracking
  • Highly rated on Trustpilot

Cons

  • Lacks HR features

Deputy Main Features

Deputy is purely a shift planner and time tracking software, and while it does have some HR features, they are heavily stripped-down, so you may want to only use this bit of kit if you already have HR functionality.

But the software is great for restaurants and bars looking to manage shifts, in an easy to use and well-presented way. Deputy also comes with a “stress profile” feature that allows you to set restrictions on employee hours plus lets your employees check-in and out themselves as and when they want for work.

Deputy Pricing

Deputy offers a great value for money service, offering multiple plans that can help businesses plan and track their employee’s activities. You can opt into either of its Scheduling or Time and Attendance packages which both cost £1.50 per user per month, or opt into its Premium plan at £3 per user per month.

Its scheduling plan allows you to schedule your employee’s rota, integrates with your point of sale system, and automatically creates new employee rotas for you, great for any cafes and restaurants. Whilst it is not a full software for HR management, the Time and Attendance plans allow you to track your employee’s attendance and export your timesheets your payroll too. For the best value, you can combine all of these features in the £3 Premium package giving you access to all these features.

Deputy Trustpilot Reviews

Although it doesn’t have the best HR features, Deputy is highly rated by Trustpilot users as a piece of software that is easy to use and is constantly being updated.

BerniePortal

bernie portal software for hr management
BerniePortal

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Payroll
  • Scalable for growing businesses
  • All aspects of HR

Cons

  • Can get expensive

BerniePortal Main Features

Overall the product is very easy to use and intuitive, newbies to HR management will be able to easily navigate and operate the system to track your employee’s annual leave or check in on how your job posting is doing.

HR administration can be a nightmare at times, so its good to have software like this that can streamline the process for you. It also simplifies payroll for you, allowing you to customise how you pay your employees and when you pay them.

It’s also an easy system for employees to use to request time off and view their benefits and overtime calculations. We also really like how scalable the software is to your business needs, should you need to add or remove a certain package like its PTO Tracking package.

BerniePortal Pricing

BerniePortal’s pricing plans are laid out pretty clearly and can become fairly expensive if you look to purchase them all. Each of its 5 packages cost $5 per employee per month, with a $15 base fee.

This is slightly annoying if you either have multiple employees or are looking to purchase all 5 of the plans, setting you back $25 per month per user and $75 at the outset. But we do like how you can buy the plan you need, helping you to also save money not opting into full package plans in which you may not use all the features.

With BerniePortal you can purchase its Applicant Tracking package, its PTO Tracking package, Time and Attendance package, its Compliance package, and lastly its Performance Management package.

BerniePortal Online Reviews

BerniePortal is highly regarded software for HR management, scoring 4/5 stars on most review sites, but many customers report that the customer support was well worth the price, being thoughtful and helpful in their advice.

Pros

  • Applicant tracking
  • HR tools
  • Trusted brand

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Average reviews

SAP Main Features

SAP includes core HR tools, onboarding automation tools, performance reviews and metrics tools, and compensation management tools, so you get a lot for the increased price you pay. But it’s best known for its application tracking tools, enabling you to easily add new employees to your company, upload the necessary data on each one, and view that data in its new hire Organisation Charts you can access and view at any time.

We liked its automated job advertising features too that let you set rules on what type of jobs you’re advertising, plus you can also cut time building requisites for different jobs and use the software’s intelligence to build those for you to remove the repetitive manual tasks associated with job advertising.

SAP Success Factors Pricing

SAP SuccessFactors is quite expensive and might be a little off-putting for many small businesses, with its tiered plans starting at $85 per month for companies with up to 100 employees.

Namely

namely hr
Namely

Pros

  • Customisable
  • Reporting tools
  • Onboarding

Cons

  • Unclear pricing
  • Poor integration

Namely Main Features

Namely targets mid-sized companies looking to centralise all of their tasks in one platform. This software for HR management is super easy to use and navigate and is also pretty customisable allowing you to have control over what tools are on your dashboard.

The service also has great reporting tools that you can add to your dashboard in a kind of newsreel format, which you can customise to keep you updated on how many employees each of your teams has, who’s on holiday or important events coming up.

Namely Pricing

Namely unfortunately does not have a clear pricing plan, nor does it offer a free trial. From our understanding, the platform does though offer a basic service that will give you access to all of its standard HR services including employee engagement, onboarding, talent management, and benefit administration.

Unfortunately Namely does upsell when it comes to its payroll plan, which you will have to pay extra for.

Namely Online Reviews

Namely gets some pretty poor ratings as a software for HR management, with many scoring it as only a 5/10.

Although many commend its payroll features to be fast and easy to use as well as its onboarding features, although it can be complicated for employees to use its timesheets feature and doesn’t offer great integration with 3rd party apps and software.
